Hydraulic Gear Pump: Compact Structure Features and Wide Industrial Application Coverage
Product Introduction
Hydraulic gear pump is a typical fixed displacement positive displacement pump, mainly divided into external gear type and internal gear type. The external gear pump is more popular in the market, which consists of driving gear, driven gear, pump housing and end covers. When the driving gear rotates, the tooth cavities separate at the inlet side to form negative pressure, sucking hydraulic oil into the gaps between gear teeth. The oil is carried along the inner wall of pump housing to the outlet side. As the gears mesh together, the volume of tooth cavities shrinks, squeezing out hydraulic oil and building system pressure.
Compared with other hydraulic pumps, the hydraulic gear pump stands out for its simple mechanical design and low maintenance cost. It has good self-priming performance and tolerates moderate oil contamination, which makes it suitable for tough outdoor working environments. The whole unit is lightweight and easy to install on limited mounting space. The main limitation is flow pulsation during operation, so it is more suitable for medium pressure working scenarios instead of ultra-high precision low-noise systems. With proper installation and regular fluid inspection, it can maintain stable performance for long continuous operation.
Application Scenarios
Thanks to its robust and cost-effective design, hydraulic gear pumps are adopted as power units in a large number of mobile and stationary hydraulic machinery:
1. Construction Machinery
Loaders, road rollers, asphalt pavers and small excavators widely use hydraulic gear pumps to supply hydraulic power for steering, lifting and auxiliary working mechanisms. The pump can adapt to frequent start-stop and vibration conditions on construction sites, offering reliable power for bucket movement and chassis steering systems.
2. Agricultural Machinery
Tractors, combine harvesters and field sprayers rely on hydraulic gear pumps to drive hydraulic suspension systems, lifting frames and rotary spraying devices. Its compact size is ideal for agricultural equipment layout. It can work stably under variable load conditions in farmland to complete soil preparation, harvesting and crop protection operations efficiently.
3. Machine Tools and Industrial Hydraulic Stations
Many metal cutting machine tools, hydraulic presses and material clamping equipment select gear pumps to provide power for workpiece clamping and table feeding movements. The stable oil output supports repeated clamping and linear motion of workpieces, meeting the basic hydraulic power demand of metal processing workshops.
4. Marine and Deck Equipment
On ships and barges, hydraulic gear pumps drive small deck winches, anchor control mechanisms and hatch opening systems. The sturdy structure can withstand humid and bumpy marine environments, ensuring the safe retraction of cables and the switch of hatches during navigation.
5. Waste and Sanitation Vehicles
Sanitation trucks, garbage compactors and road sweepers are equipped with hydraulic gear pumps to power lifting arms, compaction plates and rotary sweeping brushes. The pump responds quickly to control signals and supports intermittent heavy-load compression and cleaning tasks on urban roads.
