All controls are achieved through the correct positioning of the inclined plate. This is achieved by a servo piston acting on one end of the inclined plate, overcoming the bias force of the pistons and the combined force of the centering spring at the other end. The control valve core acts as a throttle valve, changing the pressure behind the servo piston. The centerline of the pump oil plunger assembly is offset from the centerline of the inclined plate. Therefore, as shown in Figure 1A, the combined force of the plungers tends to cause the inclined plate to return to the vertical (neutral) position. When the inclined plate is tilted by the force of the servo piston, the return force is balanced.

Replace Parker PAV PAV10 Series Hydraulic Piston Pump Pressure Compensation Control
The angle of the inclined plate controls the output flow of the pump. The angle of the inclined plate is controlled by the force generated by the pump oil plunger on the inclined plate and the force of the servo piston. When both are under the same pressure, the force of the servo piston is greater than the force of the pump oil plunger. With the help of the internal oil port, pressure is connected from the output oil port to the servo piston through the throttle hole, and is connected to the control valve core through the flow channel. In addition, pressure acts on the control valve core chamber through the throttle hole. As long as the pressure at both ends of the control valve core remains equal, due to the additional force of the spring. The valve core will remain biased in the upper position.
When the pressure reaches the set value controlled by the compensator, the cone valve core leaves its valve seat, causing the pressure in the valve core chamber to decrease. So the valve core moves downwards, causing the pressure in the servo piston chamber to be released through the oil port. The reduced pressure on the servo piston causes it to move to the right. This motion reduces the angle of the inclined plate and thereby decreases the output flow rate of the pump.
When the pump pressure on the control spool drops below the pressure and spring force in the spool chamber, the control spool moves upward. Maintain balance on both sides of the valve core. If the pump pressure drops below the compensator control set value, the control spool moves upward to bring the pump to maximum displacement.
